We use LEGO© to help the children learn Chinese and there are many reasons for it. One of the most important reasons is that we pay close attention to our students. Because of the age variation, ranging from 5 years old to 10 years old, we uses LEGO© to teach them as LEGO© would be more appealing to those younger kids than the traditional PowerPoint. Through this way, the kids would understand the words and sentences much better, no matter how old they are.
Another very critical reason is that we are trying to encourage the kids to do hands-on “experiments” and this would make sure that they remember the things more clearly and more precisely. According to a research by Education Technology, “hands-on learning allows students to directly take on board and understand what is happening, or how to do something”. After doing researches, we decide that it wold be better to make them do things themselves rather than listening to our lectures.
